Family is at the heart of Ruben’s life. A proud father of two boys and a devoted husband, he prioritizes time with his family above all. In addition to his professional endeavors, Ruben stays actively involved in his community. He volunteers his time as a youth sports coach and has served on various boards, including roles as website director, administrator, and vice president. His commitment to building stronger, more connected communities is evident both in his personal and professional life.

Ruben’s journey in education is a testament to his commitment to growth and leadership. Starting with an Associate of Arts in General Studies from the Community College of Rhode Island (CCRI), he then pursued a Bachelor of Science in Public Administration from Roger Williams University (RWU). His passion for community improvement led him to earn a Master of Arts in Community Development, also from RWU, where he deepened his understanding of how to create sustainable, community-focused change. To further enhance his leadership skills, Ruben completed a Master of Science in Organizational Leadership from RWU, equipping him with the tools to lead with vision and purpose. He has also earned a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the Workplace Certification from the University of South Florida, solidifying his expertise in the DEI field. 

Ruben Tejada’s career began with a strong foundation in service. Early on, he earned his EMT Basic, EMT Cardiac, and EMT Paramedic Certifications, working for a private ambulance company, where he demonstrated a deep commitment to the care and well-being of others. This dedication led him to a career as a firefighter, where he served with distinction, helping to save lives and protect his community. As a retired firefighter, Ruben continues to embody the values of courage, selflessness, and resilience that defined his time in the fire service.

Through his work and volunteer efforts, Ruben Tejada continues to make an impact by fostering environments where diversity is celebrated, equity is prioritized, and inclusion is practiced every day.
